So why is shield not reconizing the new drive. According to the shield site, it supports fat, fatex and ntfs. When i plug it into my shield, my shield says it does not reconzie it or unsupported file system. The "Ignore Ownership on the Volume" checkbox in the drive's show info box is not there. I hooked up my brand new seagate 3tb external drive after putting my digital anime files on it. To fix the problem, you need to fix the file system errors firstly.
I know each of those two problems are the cause of this issue but I am unable to find a solution. If the file system is damaged, your Seagate external hard drive may become RAW (See: How to Fix External Hard Disk Suddenly Became Raw), thus you are unable to visit the files on your external hard and can’t see files on Seagate external hard drive. When I try to run the software mac says "the developer needs to update this software to work with this version of Mac". I know what you are going to say, but the NTFS writing software that Seagate has to write to these type of drives doesn't work on this version of macOS I guess the upgrade killed it because I have used the drive before on previous versions.
Heres how to confirm: right click the external hard drive and choose 'Properties'. I can always move files to the internal SSD or my external SanDisk Extreme SSD if speed is necessary, such as movie editing. The biggest downside is that the Seagate Drive Toolkit tells me there is a Driver available, but it requires me to lower the security of the M1 Mac to authorize it on macOS 12.x Monterey. If you see a warning that says the device is only being mounted in read-only mode while connecting, your hard disk is diagnosed to have formatting errors that prevent you from writing files to it. I plugged in my Seagate backup hard drive today (not Time Machine) after a few months and my computer can read the drive but not write to it.Ģ) The drive has (from top to bottom) "Read & Write", "Read-only", "Read-Only" permissions. Possible cause 2 file system errors: in some cases, the files may be not showing in external hard drive because the file system is corrupted or because it doesnt contain a recognized file system. At this time, users had better recover data from external hard drive firstly. Another common cause for the external hard drive 'Read Only' problem on Mac is the formatting errors of the storage device itself.
